Mountain Activities
With beautiful rivers to follow, amazing rocks to climb, and extensive alpine routes to explore, NORTHSTAR is a unique base for your adventure activities. Whether a short walk from NORTHSTAR or an extended trip into the Northern Japan Alps, you get to experience Japan’s unique and mysterious mountains.
Wall Climbing Session
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced rock climber, our indoor rock wall is a great place to improve your skills. Conveniently located in NORTHSTAR’s Outdoor Adventure Center, the rock wall can be enjoyed for bouldering or top-rope climbing. First time climbers can easily challenge themselves on our 5.5m x 7m wall.

Registration: 30 Minutes prior to start time.
Cost:
- Private (1 person / 40 min) : ¥3,500
- Semi-Private (2 people / 60 min) : ¥3,500
- Regular (3 or more people / 90 min〜) : ¥3,500

BOULDERING WALL (Free to lodging guests)
- ¥1,500 for 3 hours
- Rental Climbing Shoes: ¥500
Hiking Guide
Our guide can take you to Mt. Norikura and Mt. Yakedake for a day hike, or to multiple day hikes to Hotaka range or other Northern Japan Alps, according to your experience and skill.
Kengamine (elevation: 3,026m), which is the main peak of Mt. Norikura, can be accessed by bus up to 2,700m high and it is relatively easy for beginners to climb. Yake-dake and Nishihotaka-dake are recommended for full day trips. We will also help you with planning mountain hut stays and tent stays. Please contact us for more details or inqueries.
Guiding fee:
- ¥54,000 (1day, up to 3 people)
- Additional fee: ¥18,000/person for a day
Other fees：
- Up to 10 people for a group. Support guide will join for more than 6 people.
