Frozen Waterfall Snowshoe Tour

This is our classic snowshoe tour to see a frozen pond and waterfall in Norikura. Most of this tour is downhill with some time for exploring in the forest and walking on frozen water. Staff may bring sleds and have some time to play in the snow! Even in cloudy weather we can still enjoy the tour to its full. This is best for those looking for an easy tour with lots of time to play in the snow.
Kamikochi Taisho Pond 1/2 Day SST
Pros ➕
– Half Day 6km hike.
– Pond is visible in any weather.
– Possible to see rare Kamikochi Winter views.
Cons ➖
– 2km of uphill can be difficult for beginners.
– No mountain views in cloudy weather.
This tour is the Half Day Kamikochi Tour to Taisho Pond and back. There is 2km of steep uphill during the beginning which is hard for beginner hikers. At the Pond we take a coffee break and relax before heading back down the tunnel. The views can vary depending on the weather.
Kamikochi + Norikura Custom Snowhose Tour (Custom Tour)

– Can experience best of Norikura and Kamikochi
– Pond and Waterfall is visible in any weather
– Possible to stop by Local Restaurant for Lunch.
Cons ➖
– 8-9km uphill and downhills.
– Can be tiring in cold and windy weather.
– Long time outside.
This is the Kamikochi Taisho Pond Half Day tour combined with the Frozen Waterfall Tour. In the morning we head into Kamikochi to see the Taisho pond and then head back for lunch. On the drive back to Norikura we can drop guests off at the local Soba Noodle restaurant for lunch. After lunch, we will head to see the frozen waterfall in Norikura. It is all day but not as much hiking compared to the Kamikochi Full day tour.
Full Day Kamikochi/Kappa Bridge Tour (Custom Tour)

– Rare views of Kamikochi in winter.
– Great for those seeking all day adventure.
– Possible monkey sightings.
– Rare view of Kappa Bridge in winter.
Cons ➖
– 13km uphill and downhill. Difficult for Beginners.
– No mountain views in cloudy weather.
– All day outside. Tiring in cold/windy weather.
This tour is for experienced hikers who can manage the 13km hike in the cold and snowy landscape. Walking in deep snow can be more tiring than usual and so please be ready! We will be outside all day so it’s necessary to be prepared with good equipment. We will start early to make it to the bridge by lunchtime, take an hour or so for lunch, then head back towards Taisho pond. In poor weather we may not be able to see the scenic mountain views.
